The gas spring consists ofa steel cylindercontaining pressurized gas (nitrogen) anda rodthat slides in the cylinder itself through a sealing ring.
The gas, compressing through the entry of the stem, returns a thrust, behaving like a spring. Compared to traditional mechanical springs, gas springs have an almost flat force curve even for very long strokes. They are used in all those cases where it is necessary to obtain a thrust proportional to the weight to be lifted or moved, or to counterbalance the lifting of equipment, furniture and heavy items.
The most common applications are visible on car doors, on protective casings of industrial machines, on furniture doors, on medical and fitness equipment, on motorized awnings and covers, on attic windows with hopper opening, inside the sales counters of supermarkets and butchers' shops.
